The project is a partnership between King's Church Leicester and the YMCA.  King's Church were seeking to serve the community, and found that the YMCA had an overgrown and disused community garden at its site in Aylestone.

We started to work on it last year, working with the young residents who live in accommmodation next to the garden.  It gives them the opportunity to learn new skills, make friends and overcome personal difficlties, gain exercise, improve their diet and raise self esteem.  There were 4 raised beds that we have cleared, and are growing vegetables in, and we are making paths with wood shavings given to us by a local tree surgeon.  There are two green houses on site, but they also need a lot of work.
